The Faculty of Medicine

In 2013, DTU initiated a project to establish its General Practitioner (GP) program and received approval to begin admissions in the 2015–2016 academic year. The curriculum was developed based on the 2001 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, ensuring alignment with national medical training standards.

Today, the Faculty of Medicine has built a strong academic team of 105 members, including professors, PhDs, master’s degree holders, specialist physicians, pharmacists, and nurses. In addition, the faculty collaborates with visiting lecturers from 18 major hospitals across Danang and Quang Nam, such as Danang Hospital, Danang C Hospital, Military Hospital 17, Hospital 199 under the Ministry of Public Security, Quang Nam Central General Hospital, and Family Hospital.

Unlike many other institutions, DTU offers a 6-year General Practitioner program. The first year focuses on building foundational and specialized English skills. Some basic science subjects are taught experimentally in English to evaluate students’ proficiency and strengthen their ability to study medical materials and conduct research exclusively in English during the remaining six years.

Students are trained to meet high professional standards and are given the opportunity to engage with national and international research institutes. This approach enables them to enhance their scientific skills and prepare for careers as competent physicians or medical researchers.

The Faculty of Medicine remains dedicated to improving both the quality and quantity of General Practitioners serving the Central Vietnam region and the Central Highlands.
